AMOR Botanical Art
Thank you for visiting..
Hello, my name is Anna-Marie. I’m an artist and designer from County Leitrim, Ireland. My work is rooted in the Leitrim landscape where I was born and raised. My love of nature, and drawing have been a constant inspiration throughout my life. Since I was a young child I have been drawn to native plants and wildflowers which are often overlooked and underrated. These plants play the most vital role in the restorative regeneration of our ecosystems.
Background
Both of my parents were brought up on small, low intensity farms in Leitrim. This method of farming went back several generations and was good for biodiversity. It instilled my passion for biodiversity and how we impact on the health of our ecosystems.
I work from a small garden studio in rural Leitrim overlooking Sliabh an Iarainn the 'Iron Mountain' my father's homeplace. We keep a small kitchen garden where we grow some of our own food.
I studied a BA Textile Design (Hons) at the GMIT Centre for Creative Arts & Media and a H. Dip in Art Education at Limerick School of Art and Design. I have previously worked as an Arts and Craft Development Manager and Art Educator. With a background in textile art, I now primarily focus on botanically inspired drawings, prints and textiles. Having specialised in embroidery and print, thread and stitch like mark making are a constant feature in my work.
'Field Studies'
‘Field Studies’ is my first collection of original drypoint prints, fine art Giclée prints, cards and interior textile pieces. I have created a range of designs based on native wild plants which have a role in the survival of our pollinators which thrive in the meadows surrounding our home. With this collection I hope to share a sense of empathy with nature and focus attention on our biodiversity.
Sustainability
Sustainability and creating pieces which have a low environmental impact is important to me. I collaborate with local suppliers who provide quality materials and services. I only make small batch, or order or limited edition to cut down on waste of materials. The packaging is recycled or biodegradable/compostable made in Ireland and my timber frames are made in Ireland and are FSC certified.
I work with 100% natural, Irish linen & a linen/ cotton fabric to create the my interior textiles. I aim to create quality pieces reflecting elements of the Irish landscape which I hope can find a natural place within your home.
If you are looking for an original piece for the home, for any occasion, which is 100% Irish, made local and eco conscious I hope that you can find the perfect solution in my work.
Thank you for supporting my small creative start up business and for buying Irish.
